Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg
Virginia

I am visiting my brother and his wife in Hampton, Virginia. we will be spending Thanksgiving wih them and their children. My lovely niece & nephew!
We arrived on Thursday evening. On Saturday evening one of my other brothers & my father arrived and surprise we were there! We didn't tell them we were coming so the looks on their faces were priceless. From confusing to tears.

Before they arrived we went Friday for a drive. It is by the way the first visit to the East Coast and my boyfriends first visit to the United States. Our drive took us from Hampton to Surry and with the ferry over to Jamestown with us driving further along William & Mary where my neice studied. We stopped and walked through historical Williamsburg. We will be going back to spend some more time in the town but our first impressions have been photographed.
Here they are!

Apple Pizza

 Apple Pizza

Not much like pizza & not quite Apple Pie

Ingredients
300 grams flour
100 grams light brown sugar
200 grams butter (cold)
300 almond paste
60 grams walnuts (unsalted) (crushed or finely chopped)
60 grams almonds (crushed or finely chopped)
2 eggs (very slightly beaten)
5 apples (peeled is optional I do not peel them)
50 grams sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Needed -> baking paper / cookie sheet or cake pan / bowl / 2 knifes / measuring scale
Time needed -> preparing 60 minutes, preparations 30 minutes & waiting  40 minutes.
Original recipe from ah.nl

Mix together the flour, brown sugar and add just a pinch of salt. Using two knifes cut 200 grams of butter into the mixture and keep cutting until you have a crumbly dough.

Add the walnuts & almonds.
Knead the dough and roll into a ball. Wrap with plastic-wrap and let the dough rest in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Now preheat the oven to 175 Celsius.

When the dough has finished resting push it out onto a baking pan lined with baking paper. The form should be approximately 25 x 25 cm.
Fold the dough slightly upwards on the sides.

Divide the almond paste equally onto the dough. Spread the eggs evenly onto the the paste.

Cut the apples each into four pieces removing the core. Then cut them into slices.

Add the remaining 50 grams of butter into a skillet and fry the apple pieces on high heat for two minutes.

Add the cinnamon & sugar and fry two more minutes.

Spread the apples over the dough.

Bake for 40 minutes.

Autumn diy fun in less than 10 minutes.

I wanted to do some decorating for the fall. I love having candles outside so I thought I would decorate some jars and use them. I choose a jar where you could see where the sticker had been knowing it would be camouflaged by the leaves. It took in all 10 minutes including the time needed to warm the glue and gather the leaves.
Here is the result.
